Tender Use Case

Goal:

Create a tender menu that can be use in different countries with different currencies

How we got here…

We received a request to revise the Point-of-Sale tender menu because it did not meet APAC region requirements. The request noted the large number of tenders used in markets such as Thailand, which made the existing navigation structure cumbersome.

Given the tight timeline for an initial response, I initiated a rapid A/B test. I designed and deployed the test and, together with the research team, collected preliminary feedback.

A/B Test

After the A/B testing, I dove into the grid design, and with the team started coming up with a survey of questions that were important as part of the usability. The new tender menu wasn’t only going to affect the stores that requested the change in the APAC region, but also all stores in the US and around the world that use our point of sale, so altering the flow or button position was a huge change.

Iterate, iterate, iterate

Once the survey results came back, we gather all the feedback and I got started on the designs. A total of 3 rounds of designs/reviews were completed before handing it back to our research team for one final usability testing.

Outcome

After getting positive results from the usability test, we moved forward with the new design and it was launched globally with positive response.

On time task went from 46.9s to 20.9, and error frequency reduced from 40% to 0
